“YABANCILAR İÇİN TEMEL TÜRKÇE” SETİNDE ASKERÎ TERMİNOLOJİ ÖĞRETİMİ

Özet: Çalışma, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminin özel amaçlı dil öğretimi (ÖADÖ) alanına giren askerî Türkçe öğretimini ele almakta ve bu doğrultuda geliştirilen öncül nitelikteki öğretim materyalini terminolojik ve öğretim durumları açısından değerlendirmektedir. Araştırma kapsamında, 1978-1980 yılları arasında Türk Silahlı Kuvvetler İstihbarat ve Dil Okulu Türkçe Bölümü bünyesinde hazırlanan ve Genelkurmay Basımevi tarafından yayımlanan “Yabancılar İçin Temel Türkçe I-II-III-IV” öğretim seti doküman analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Söz konusu dört ciltten oluşan öğretim setinin içeriğindeki okuma metinleri, diyaloglar, dil bilgisi alıştırmaları ve ünite sonu sözlük bölümleri taranarak askerî terminolojiye ait söz varlığı tespit edilmiş; elde edilen veriler nitel içerik analizi yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, incelenen öğretim setinin askerî terminolojiyi somuttan soyuta, kışla rutinlerinden millî-tarihî ve stratejik değerlere uzanan sarmal ve aşamalı bir yapıda sunduğunu göstermektedir. İlk kitaplarda günlük kışla dili ve temel rütbeler işlenirken dördüncü kitap olan “Askerî Metinler” cildinde doğrudan mesleki alanlara yönelik teknik terimler ve görsel destekli açıklamalar sunulmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, bu öğretim setinin askerî Türkçe öğretimi alanındaki kurumsal ve metodolojik boşluğu dolduran öncü bir kaynak olduğu ve gelecekte hazırlanacak modern öğretim materyallerine temel teşkil edeceği düşünülmektedir.

Abstract This study examines the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language within the field of specialized language instruction (SLI), specifically focusing on military Turkish instruction, and evaluates the pioneering instructional materials developed for this purpose in terms of terminology and instructional contexts. As part of the research, the “Basic Turkish for Foreigners I-II-III-IV” (Yabancılar İçin Temel Türkçe I-II-III-IV) instructional series, prepared by the Turkish Language Department of the Turkish Armed Forces Intelligence and Language School between 1978 and 1980 and published by the General Staff Printing House, was analyzed using document analysis methods. The reading texts, dialogues, grammar exercises, and end-of-unit glossary sections within the four-volume teaching set were reviewed to identify the lexicon of military terminology; the data obtained were evaluated using qualitative content analysis. The research findings indicate that the examined teaching set presents military terminology in a spiral and phased structure, ranging from concrete to abstract concepts and extending from barracks routines to national-historical and strategic values. While the first books cover daily barracks language and basic ranks, the fourth book, titled “Military Texts,” presents technical terms directly related to professional fields along with visually supported explanations. In conclusion, this instructional set is considered a pioneering resource that fills the institutional and methodological gap in the field of military Turkish instruction and is expected to serve as a foundation for modern instructional materials to be developed in the future.
